What you'll do

  • Communicate service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions.
  • Total charges for group functions, and prepare and present checks to group contacts for payment.
  • Ensure banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee breaks are ready for service. Ensure proper centerpieces are displayed on every table.
  • Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use.
  • Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction. Set tables according to type of event and service standards.
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day.
  • Prepare coffee breaks, carts, and stations with appropriate food and beverages as stated in Banquet Event Order.
  • Prepare tables, action stations, buffets, service carts, dessert table/carts and cordial carts.
  • Communicate additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen.
  • Ensure courses are cleared and tables are properly crumbed.
  • Respond to and try to fulfill any special banquet event arrangements.
  • Replenish buffet items to ensure consistency and freshness in presentation.
  • Monitor tableware to ensure it is presentable to guests.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Bus tables by removing and separating tableware, plateware, glassware, and flatware.

What we’re looking for

  • Experience

    • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in banquet, catering, or food & beverage service, preferably in a hotel or event setting.

    • Previous experience as a senior server, team leader, or similar role is an advantage.

  • Skills & Competencies

    • Solid understanding of banquet setup, service styles (buffet, plated, receptions), and event breakdown.

    • Ability to lead by example and guide servers during events under the direction of the Banquet Supervisor or Manager.

    • Strong communication skills to coordinate with colleagues, kitchen staff, and supervisors.

    • Attention to detail to ensure setups and service meet hotel standards.

    • Guest-focused mindset with the ability to respond quickly and professionally to requests.

    • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

  • Personal Qualities

    • Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanor.

    • Team player with a hands-on attitude.

    • Calm under pressure, with the ability to stay organized during busy events.

    • Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling.

  • Other Requirements

    • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

    • Physical ability to stand for long periods and assist with setups and breakdowns.

    • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
